Our Vision
Rescue Training and Development Center (RTDC) exists to provide rescue, economically and spiritually, to women and street children.
Our focus are poor and unprivileged women who have no options of improving their lifes, and street children, who have no father, mother, no one to love or care for them. We work to raise up their lives to become self dependent, educated, empowered and enriched. Through sewing and life skills training these women have improved socio-economic condition for themselves and their entire family. They return home empowered with the knowledge, skill and hope for a bright future. Meet our Students and learn about their Backgrounds. |
Our Training Program
RTDC teaches women to sew and run a tailoring business so they can become self dependent and empowered women. Our students are unprivileged, poor and low caste. Some are also widowed, conflict affected, divorced, bonded labor, disabled, deaf, dumb, and orphaned. Our students also learn healthy nutrition, healthcare, cooking, knitting, bead work, time management, public speaking, Bible study, leadership, and many other valuable skills and character qualities. RTDC is a non-profit school funded solely by the support of friends like you. This life changing program lasts 4 months and costs $640 per student. Please consider Supporting RTDC, every penny goes to the RTDC in Kathmandu.

Our Beginnings
Vijay and Meenu shared the vision for RTDC in February of 2008 to Ken and Mark who were visiting orphanage families that Ken had been supporting over the past many years. Ken's daughter Julie had been pen pals with Meenu and knew of her desire to begin RTDC. Ken and Mark brought back that vision to their church in the US, who raised enough support to begin the first group of students. After the first group the finished, support had run out. While waiting for support for the second group, Vijay, Meenu and Shanta went into the market area and gathered up children living on the street. This outreach sparked a renewal of support that has continued through our 9th group of students and over 4 years of positive influence to the street children.
