Religion: Buddhist
Education: None
Region: Mid-South
Marital Status: Single
Kamala is the oldest child of a poor Buddhist family who depend upon working hard labor on other people's land to survive. In hard labor work, the women are expected to have the same strength and stamina level as men. Kamala heard about RTDC through a former student and she chose sewing/tailoring because work is readily available and it does not have the physical demands of hard labor. After graduation, Kamala intends to teach tailoring to other women, including her friend, who are still doing labor work in the village.
